Thor's Lightning Rapid 4-Tire Air System (MID001/FUL001/RV001) Instructions:

Deflation:

  • Step 1: Un-pack hoses. There are two long hose sections, one for each side of the vehicle. There is a manifold equipped with two quick-disconnect couplers for the two long hose sections. Orient the hoses so the manifold is accessible for your air source.
  • Step 2: Connect the hose to the manifold via the quick-disconnect couplers (if needed). Make sure the air-valve (black handle) is parallel to the ground (this closes the valve).
  • Step 3: Connect long hose sections to the vehicle tire valve-stems using the quick disconnect tire chucks. Make sure there’s no kinks in the hose line.
  • Step 4: After connecting the long hose sections to all tires that need to be deflated, open the air-valve by turning the black handle to perpendicular to the ground. Close the valve and check the digital air pressure gauge to see what air pressure the tires are currently at. Open and close the valve as needed until the desired air pressure is reached.
  • Step 5: Leave Air System connected to all 4 tires for approximately 10-15 seconds with the valve in the closed position- this allows for all 4 tires to equalize their pressure.

Inflation:

  • Step 4: Connect coupler on manifold to air source. Note: if you are using a SmittyBuilt/Maxi-Trac/Lightning Bolt or Viair compressor, you will need the optional Thor’s Lightning Air System coupler. Once coupler is connected to air source, open the air-valve by turning the black handle to perpendicular to the ground. Failure to open the air-valve may cause the air source to fail due to back pressure.
  • Step 5: Turn on the air source. Turn off the air source and check the digital air pressure gauge to see what air pressure the tires are currently at. Turn on and off the air source as needed until the desired air pressure is reached.
  • Step 6: Leave Air System connected to all 4 tires for approximately 10-15 seconds with the valve in the closed position- this allows for all 4 tires to equalize their pressure.

NOTE: If utilizing a compressed CO2 air source (Power Tank), it is recommended not to exceed 200 p.s.i. in pressure on the regulator to prevent leakage unless a 250 p.s.i. High Pressure gauge upgrade was purchased.

Digital Gauge:

If the digital gauge appears to be reading high or low, recalibrate the gauge by removing and re-installing the AAA batteries inside of the gauge. If that doesn’t work, the gauge can be recalibrated using the following procedure:

1. When the pressure gauge is in the state of no air pressure, remove the battery and then re-install the battery.

2. Press and hold both of the two buttons (ON and UNITS) at the same time for about 5 seconds until the display shows "-80".

3. When -80 appears, inflate the pressure gauge to 80psi: do not add air pressure slowly, it needs to be added to 80PSI quickly.

4. If the display show "pass", the pressure gauge is recalibrated successfully.

5. Then remove and re-install batteries in pressure gauge, which will be ready for use.

Thor's Lightning TotalControl Hammer Manifold (TCHAM001) Instructions:

To Inflate:

  1. Connect the controller to an air source (e.g., air compressor, air tank).
  2. Connect the controller to the tires using the air hose (either a single tire or all four tires).
  3. Press the power button to turn it on, and set the desired PSI by pressing the “-” or “+” buttons.
  4. Turn on the manual valve and air source to start inflation. The process will pause 2–4 times for pressure calibration.
  5. When the desired pressure is reached, the controller will close the internal electronic valve and beep.
  6. Turn off the air source.
  7. Disconnect the hoses from the tires.
  8. Disconnect the air source and turn off the controller.
Note: The electronic valve will remain closed for 120 seconds, during which it will beep. Disconnect the hoses and air source within this time.

To Deflate:

  1. Connect the controller to the tires using the air hose (without connecting an air source).
  2. Press the power button to turn it on, and set the desired PSI by pressing the “-” or “+” buttons.
  3. Turn on the manual valve, and the controller will automatically start deflation. It will pause a few times for pressure calibration.
  4. When the desired pressure is reached, the controller will close the internal electronic valve and beep.
  5. Close the manual valve and disconnect the hoses from the tires.
Note: The electronic valve will remain closed for 120 seconds, during which it will beep. Disconnect the hoses within this time.

Tip: Further Deflation:

To deflate further, with the hoses connected and the manual valve open, press “-” to lower the PSI. The controller will automatically continue deflation until the new pressure is reached.

Re-calibration procedure:

  1. Ensure valve is in the open position.
  2. Long press "-" and "+” buttons simultaneously, until software version is displayed
  3. Release and short press "+" button again

Local atmosphere pressure will be recorded as 0, and unit will be re-calibrated to local conditions.

Tip: Inflating higher pressure for rear tires than front:

  1. Connect all four tire hoses, and set the PSI for the front tires.
  2. Inflate all four tires to the PSI set for the front tires.
  3. Once the front tire pressure is reached, disconnect the front tires and press “+” to adjust the PSI for the rear tires. The controller will resume inflation to the new PSI for the rear tires.

Thor's Lightning Quick Disconnect Kit (QDK001) Instructions:

Step 1: Disconnect positive battery terminal from vehicle battery.

Step 2: Cut alligator clips off of Thor’s Lightning Bolt True Dual Compressor wires (take note of which wire is positive and negative with use of tape).

Step 3: Feed red (positive) wire and black (negative) wire from Hardwiring Kit to vehicle battery or attachment to body (rear cargo area floor, battery terminals, etc.). DO NOT ATTACH WIRES TO BATTERY.

Step 4: Strip insulation of red (positive) wire approximately 1/2” using wire strippers. Strip positive wire of compressor (marked with tape) approximately 1/2”.

Step 5: Twist uncovered wire into a strand on both red (positive) wire and the air compressor wire. Place black heat shrink on both wires near end. Crimp on pole-connector terminal to both ends of wire. Use heat shrink as necessary to ensure protection from the elements.

Step 6: Connect power pole wire connectors using “+” (positive) side to pole-connector terminals on both the compressor and the wiring kit positive wires. Repeat steps 4-6 for negative wires from wiring kit and compressor.

Step 7: Cut red (positive) wire in engine bay near fuse box with wire cutters. Strip approximately 1/2” of insulation from both ends of red (positive) wire using wire strippers. Twist exposed wire into a strand. Unscrew plastic end caps of provided 100 Amp Fuse Receptacle Place and slide them over ends of wire onto insulation. Place wire in provided 100 Amp Fuse Receptacle and screw down terminals tightly onto exposed wire. Screw plastic end caps back onto fuse block. Works great

Very well done.

The wire and connections were extremely well done and the Anderson plug was beyond easy to attach. I used the JL kit in my JKUR because I wanted the compressor in the passenger rear corner and wanted the wire run through the driver's side firewall across the hump, and to the back passenger corner with a little extra. That worked perfectly. Just note the negative cable for the JL is only and 6.5ft long. That's because the JK had a grounding post under the rear seat. For the JK I ran it down the rear fender passthrough and attached it to the frame. It actually worked out better than I expected doing that and it was nice not taking the negative back to the battery. I was very pleased with how it turned out.

Hi there, thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience with our Thor's Lightning Air Compressor and Quick Disconnect Kit. We are thrilled to hear that the wire and connections were well done and that the Anderson plug was easy to attach. We appreciate your note about the length of the negative cable and are glad to hear that the installation worked out well for you in both the JL and JK models. Thank you again for your feedback, we are happy to hear that you are pleased with the end result. Happy trails!

Quick disconnect, easy install and works great

I purchased this JK Quick disconnect kit to use on the passenger side of my JL as I made my own mounting bracket to mount my compressor over the subwoofer in the rear of my Jeep. EI was able to run the wire through a factory grommet in the rear fender well and along the frame up to the battery. Completely satisfied with all of the products I have purchased from Thor’s.

Hi there! Thank you so much for leaving such a positive review for our Thor's Lightning Air Compressor - 12V Quick Disconnect Kit. We are thrilled to hear that the quick disconnect was easy to install and is working great for you. It sounds like you also found a clever way to mount the compressor in your Jeep. We appreciate your support and we're glad to have you as a satisfied customer. Happy trails! - The Thor's team

Melted Connectors

After several minutes of airing up a tire the compressor shut down. No power. Checked the breaker supplied with the kit but it did not trip. Tried to disconnect the connectors but found them to be melted together. Pulled the cables out of the connectors and found them to have melted plastic on the contacts. Verified power at the contacts after scraping off the plastic. Going to upgrade from the included 50A connectors to the larger gray 175A version and see what happens.
